Tomorrows lunch is a PB &J 'heart doggy' with rolled oat 'wisker dots', cranberry nose, and candy eyes... yes, I said candy eyes! Absolutely nothing organic about them. They are from a candy bracelet my daughter got at a birthday party and they made perfect blue eyes. They are the only non-organic item in this lunch.
This lunch is for my son and he is on a lunch lettuce strike again.... I have given him a LOT of lettuce lately. I told him we could skip vegetables in his lunch tomorrow, but he'll be getting two kinds with dinner tomorrow. He agreed. So, lots of fruit instead; kiwi, frozen peaches and blueberries, and yogurt with a kiwi heart in the center.
Oh, I love that doggie sandwich! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteOn The Martha Show last week there was a guest who was speaking about the importance of pure foods and talking about which foods are important to buy organic and also which foods don't really make a difference - and kiwi was one that she said was fine to buy "regular". That kiwis grow so easily and without pests that chemicals are needed in their growth anyway. I thought that was interesting! :)
I just found your blog and LOVE IT! Is that a Lap Top Lunch Box? I've been thinking about buying them for my girls. The poor things take almost the same thing for lunch every day because I have zero creativity when it comes to food. Thanks for all of the great ideas! Come visit me sometime.
ReplyDeleteAdorable puppy! Nice tiny kiwi heart ;)
ReplyDeleteMelissa, I usually buy regular bananas and avocados because of their thick skins. I hadn't heard that about kiwi - thanks!
ReplyDeleteAngie - yes! laptop lunch box. I strongly suggest the 2.0 version and an extra set of 'buddies'! Glad to help with some lunch ideas!
Lia- thanks! i liked the tiny heart, too!

ReplyDeleteThe puppy is so cute!!! Great use of hearts there :D
ReplyDeleteMy son will rarely eat vegetables in his lunch so his bento makes it look like he only eats fruits. He makes up for it during all other meals :D Something about school and veg just don't mix for him lol
I LOVE this idea! i hope you don't mind that I copied it.... http://foodfortheboys.blogspot.com/2010/02/puppy-dog-valentines-lunch.html
ReplyDeletealie - not at all!
